That was quite windy then. Went to WW on forum advice and also because the
rain was orrible and they've got changing rooms. It was bang onshore and
just as I was wondering what sail to put up, I bumped into my mate Francis
from Pevensey. He was rigging a 5m and his son a 4.5. I went for the 5m as
it was onshore - was ok, but pretty stacked from the start and the wind was
building. This was about 11.30am. Sailed on the 5m for about half an hour
before changing down to 4.5. Spent about an hour on that as the waves got
bigger and then finally gave in and christened my 4m. I was pretty well
stacked on that too. It was white water central with some huge ramps, which
was great fun, but give me cross-on over onshore any day. Interestingly,
the rain stopped just as I came in. I thought it was only going to get
worse as the day went on. I went for the rising tide because I thought I'd
miss the worst of the weather - not sure that happened.
There were about 10 out at its busiest and when I packed up at 3.30 there
were lots arriving. Some bloke on a Tabou was doing some great sailing. So
was Jem. I got halfway through introducing myself to Jem before he started
dishing out abuse to me for wearing boots. I'm going to have to remember
that conversation while I'm packing for his clinic!
Two really good days from a week off in the uk - I'm not complaining.
